10月19日 Oct. 18 Back from Wine Tasting Festival~We didn't do hiking as I expected, but, it was fun~
We arrive at Shenandoah Valley at around 12:30 in the afternoon.
I couldn't love the sky and cloud more~ It was clear blue and pure white. God must be in good mood when drawing them~
We began to eat right away. (That's all of us today, except for our photographer, "YO, YAO~~")
The crabcake sandwich and chips were wonderful. Thank you very much Wayland~!
Even though it was hard to tell from the last picture, but this was the place where we were sitting....
Wasn't that wonderful!
We tasted wine from different brands and were made from different kinds of grapes.
As well as wine (can I still call them wine?) made from other fruits like blueberry, blackberry, peach, plum and apple...
They were nice, but definitely not this one! Did you see the tags on our sleeves read "I kissed the DEVIL"? It was for my brave trial of the wine called "Devil(?)", which is made from 30 different kinds of pepper... You can imagine the taste = = Err.
This was the most creative banner I saw today. They make good wine too~

What more can you expect from a weekend? Oh, I was really enjoying this!

10月13日 Oct. 12下周六，Hot Air Balloon & Wine Tasting Festival游 决定！
十月正是华盛顿绿叶次第转红，一年中最色彩斑斓的时节。而今年自九月底已经持续两个星期天气晴好，整日被多情和煦的阳光笼罩着，再不郊游踏青实在是有负秋光~
十一月初摘苹果之旅也许要缺席，十月中去弗州国家公园及当地最大的葡萄酒庄园一游却也是大大的美事一庄。早上才和室友一起乐颠颠的报了名，现在就已经按捺不住雀跃的心情开始四处宣传炫耀了~ 其实彼此都对热气球没多大热情，对葡萄酒又没什么研究，但端端酒杯闻闻气味，小尝一口装装样子，抬起头附和着对腾空的气球小小赞叹一番这样的事，倒也不是头一次干。所谓醉翁之意不在酒，在乎山水之间也 ;P 10月12日 Oct. 11下午得到消息，Verizon Center有College Night--Special ticket offer to NBA games提供，价值48块的upper level票才卖10块！Ticket Available的第一场就是十月二十九号奇才对网队，小易会过来哦~ 虽然已经安排了11月21号伙同100多中国人企图把Verizon Center变成火箭和姚明的主场，但是10块钱看易建联比赛的诱惑还是让我流了一地口水。偏偏各个周末的行程基本都已经排定，犹豫踌躇挣扎了半天，终于下狠心决定把票买下来，结果却发现那场比赛是在星期三晚上7点…… 偏偏是星期三晚上7点…… 星期三晚上7点我有不能逃课不能早退的万恶的Macro课啊啊啊啊啊啊啊！郁闷死！！ 10月3日 It can never be more weird...Well, I was really surprised by their explanation about why my SSN was still not released for around 4 weeks.
Here was our conversation this afternoon at Social Security Administration office.
"Hello, how can I help you today?"
"Oh, hi. I applied for my SSN around 4 weeks ago, and I ..."
"All right. I can help you with that. Please give me your receit."
Passed her the receit.
"Oh, you applied on Sept 5th?" Began counting... "Then you card should be on the way."
"But on the receit it was written that I should contact you if I didn't get my card in two weeks..."
"Exclude the holidays." Very serously.
"So, it should be 14 weekdays?" It was not like this on the receit, and it didn't work that way when my roommate applied for that.
"Yes. 14 + 2 days. You know that the post office shall hold that for the last two days if you give us the right address." All right. 2 days more.
"So I should be receiving my card in 2 to 3 days? That's great!" I thought that was all about my visit today.
"Let me check it for you... What's your birth date?... Where were you born?... Right... What's your mother's name?... Full name... What's your city?... Yes, the city you were born... "
Okey, here comes the fun part!~
"All right, here it is." Looked at me nicely, "Well, sometimes you have to understand that the sysem will not respond normally when there're so many people carrying the same name."
Explaining the true reason why the process took so long? Anyways, at least I can get the number today (I was so optimistic.)
"Oh, really? I didn't expect that, because in China we do not have so many people carrying the same name as mine."
"here, it's not 10, not 20, not 200..." Tried to be mysterious = =
I, WAS, SO, SURPRIZED. Come on, man, it's in America!
And, that was not all of the story,
"And it's especially hard for the system to recognize you when you're with the same birth date, same place of birth, same maiden name of the mother."
I really didn't know what to say...
"But your mum's last name is different."
.......
"Wait a moment." Then left the desk for some file just printed.
I was still shocked. I didn't know there were some people who share the same profile with me: both from LYG, both born someday 23 and a half years ago, both in US now, and both of our mums are called YL.
She came back, and said, "Now I have processed it for you, 'caz your profiles are all good. You should be getting this in around 1 week."
I was waken up. So, I was getting my card next week? Then, "Can I have my number today? I need that for tax department and ..." I was told I was already assigned an SSN when I made a phone call about my not receiving the card.
"No, maybe you can come back and get it next week."
"But..."
"I have just processed your application, and it takes the system some time to assign you a number."
Till then, I finally reallized, my application had't been processed, 4 WEEKS after I submitted my application form!
Can I still believe the coincidence she just told me and take it as the true reason, or should I consider it as one the excuses they randomly made up to escape from the furious customers? I was really pissed off. Am I really that stupid?!
Fun, isn't it? You're the boss, and you speak louder.
